A hospitalist is a healthcare provider who devotes his or her entire practice to caring for patients in the hospital. Hospitalists spend their workdays at the hospital and do not see patients in an office setting.
If you have a primary care provider at FHN, he or she may ask the hospitalist team to oversee your care. Your provider is still in close contact with the hospitalist regarding your care and condition. Your primary care provider has access to your hospital records and will follow up with you after you leave the hospital.
If you are admitted to the hospital and do not have a primary care provider, our hospitalist team will be in charge of your care. We will help you to find a healthcare provider for follow-up care after you leave the hospital.
