FHN Gift Guide
We are honored and blessed that the FHN Foundation is a vehicle donors use to make a difference in the lives of others. The generous gifts made to the FHN Foundation provide funding for equipment, facilities, patient care, staff training/education, and community health needs. Thank you for partnering with the FHN Foundation to provide healthcare excellence for our communities!
The items in this Gift Guide represent some of the projects the FHN Foundation is presently seeking to fund. There is a brief description next to each listing as well as a suggested gift amount. However, donations of any amount are welcome toward the items listed in this Gift Guide. Alternatively, you can always make a general gift to the FHN Foundation to be used where it is most needed or designate a gift to another area of your choice within FHN.
FHN Foundation’s Current Initiatives
Diaper Drive: FHN sponsors an annual Diaper Drive serving children within Stephenson County. Growth in attendance each year has shown the need for this outreach in our area. Diapers and wipes are not part of government-funded supports such as WIC. These items are very expensive, and any relief is always welcomed by families. Over the five years that FHN has held this event, we have purchased 8,730 packages of diapers and 4,400 packages of wipes. In 2025 alone, we will provide items for approximately 300 children. Each gift of $25 will help ensure that diapers and other necessary resources are available for families in need within our community.
Spiritual and Pastoral Care: FHN’s chaplain, along with a volunteer Spiritual Life Team, provides religious, spiritual and emotional support through resources, comfort and prayer.
In 2024, the Pastoral Care team served 1,430 patients, their families and FHN staff members in times of need. In addition, the team mobilizes within our communities during times of crisis and conducts trauma debriefs. FHN’s Chaplain also operates several care groups, such as Grief Support, which are open to members of the community. Each gift of $25 will help ensure the availability of necessary resources to address spiritual and religious needs, including Bibles and other literature.
Patient Transportation:Rural residents encounter barriers to healthcare that limit their ability to obtain the care they need. One of these barriers is transportation. Rural populations travel longer distances for healthcare services than their urban and suburban counterparts. When people do not have access to reliable and affordable transportation to and from their scheduled healthcare appointments or to receive emergency care, their wellbeing is negatively affected. The FHN Foundation has a fund to assist patients who demonstrate a transportation need so that they can receive appropriate medical care. Each gift of $50 will assist patients with transportation costs.
Wheelchairs: This piece of medical equipment is integral in transporting patients to various locations within FHN. The FHN Foundation would like to help replace some of the existing wheelchairs and purchase additional wheelchairs. Each gift of $75 will assist us in purchasing additional wheelchairs.
Staff Education and Training to Improve Patient Care and Safety: The FHN Foundation provides funding for professional development opportunities. Foundation funds have been used to purchase books, attend webinars, bring in speakers, and send FHN staff members to educational conferences. The knowledge gained from these educational activities is utilized to help staff members stay current on the latest techniques and practices that improve patient care and safety. Each gift of $100 will help provide continuing education opportunities.
Phlebotomy Carts: These carts are essential tools that are used daily to provide safe and efficient patient care. We would like to purchase five new carts ($700 each, for a total of $3,500) to enhance mobility, organization, and ergonomics for our phlebotomists. The newer carts will improve patient care and safety while reducing infection control concerns. Your support of these carts will directly assist frontline care and make a meaningful impact on the quality of services we provide. Each gift of $100 will assist in purchasing new Phlebotomy carts.
Equipment for Pediatric Therapy: In the last six months of 2024, FHN’s Pediatric Therapy Program volumes increased by 125%. From June 2024 through May 2025, this program completed 2,061 total visits. With this growth, additional equipment is needed to best serve children and their families. The equipment we are seeking to add includes: new adjustable height tables, children’s stacking chairs, speech treatment cart, play safe rubber mats, special high chairs to be used for feeding therapy with infants and older children, and dividers to best utilize the current space. Each gift of $250 or more will assist in purchasing the equipment needed to serve this increase of Pediatric Therapy patients.
